The senseless „car for kluncers“– bonus finds a new productive form:
„ Kill your car before it kills you“
In teamwork with students of the HfbK one car was totally deconstructed and new things made out of the component parts.
Besides the two bycicles that were built by the two artists, the residual material could be used by the students.
The whole operation was open to the visitors of the summerfestival on thirteen days in the evening hours.
In the last evening the new things were sold during an auction.
In this project I saw the challenge to examine a thing, detach it from its context and produce something of quite a different nature.

Hat
Felt
52 cm ⌀
4. Semester Design
The shape of the side cladding from the right car door prompted me to make a hat out of it. I punched the border and put the hat together with an old green cable of the electric wiring of the car.At the back side I transformed the seam into the words that pick up the slogan „Kill your car“. You have at least two options of wearing the hat.

Hand ornament
Metal
Length extendable
4. Semester Design
I was inspired to create this hand ornament by the conglomera-tion of the washers that came from the car. Its size can be adapted to the wearer by adding or removing washers.

turnable lampshade
4. Semester Design
The baffle of the exhaust system is used as the lampshade and it is linked with the formed lamp stand by a bell bearing. The shade is connected to a diagonal tube. Because of that the lampshade performs a halfturn, if it is swung into position. Three positions are possible (left, middle, right).
The steelplate of the shade was burnished with an angle grinder and now reflects the light of the metal–coated light bulb.

Toolbag
Felt, screws
ca. 30 x 10 x 10 cm
4. Semester Design
Just a few cuts were nessesary to form this tool bag out of the cleaned foot mat. The bag is held together by screws that come from the car. The part of the foot mat that is made out of stiff rubber is placed outside of the bag at the bottom side, to protect the felt from dirt. Both grips of the interior of the car doors are used as carrying handles of the bag.
